Best time to visit New York

Spring (April–June) and autumn (September–November) have the most comfortable weather. January and February are the cheapest months to fly (and great for a wintry, festive-into-new-year city break). Summer is hot and busy; December is magical but pricey.

Which airport?

New York has three airports — JFK, Newark (EWR) and LaGuardia (LGA). We search all three at once so you get the cheapest, since the best fare can land at any of them. JFK and Newark take most transatlantic flights; all three have transport links into Manhattan.

Tips for a cheaper New York trip

• Book long-haul further ahead — roughly 2–4 months out tends to be best.
• A connecting flight (often via the UK or mainland Europe) can be much cheaper than direct.
• Mid-week and off-season (Jan–Feb) flights are the cheapest of all.
