November–February is the cool, dry season and the ideal window. March–May is extremely hot; June–October brings monsoon bursts (still very doable, and cheaper).

Getting there

Suvarnabhumi (BKK) links to the city by the Airport Rail Link (~30 min). Some budget carriers use Don Mueang (DMK) — check which one your fare lands at.

Tips for a cheap Bangkok trip

• Long-haul rule applies: book 2–4 months out, and compare connections (via the Gulf) — they're often hundreds cheaper than direct.
• Street food is the point — busy stalls with locals queueing are the safe, spectacular choice.
• Use the river boats and BTS Skytrain; Bangkok traffic eats taxis alive.
